Rebecca Shankman

Researcher

Rebecca is an experienced applied researcher with a masters of arts degree in sociology trained in quantitative and qualitative methodologies.  She has experience in both non-profit and policy research. She was a research associate at the University of Maryland where she worked with the Lab for Applied Social Science Research, the Sociology Group Processes Lab, and the Serious Violent Offender Project with the Criminology department. She has also consulted for the Women’s National Basketball Players Association. A sociology PhD student at Ohio State University, she focuses on multiple aspects of reentry from incarceration. Her main interests are the reentry process itself, societal reactions to those with criminal records, and the perspective on government legitimacy of those who are disenfranchised. She also works as a research consultant for Black Onyx Management where she helps design and execute research regarding strategic plans, program development, and other topics.
